About this speaker

Lord Ryan Lizardo is a life-long educator and advocate for the education system in Hawaii. Lord Ryan started his journey in education as a teacher for six years at James Campbell High School where he taught Social Studies. In addition, Lord Ryan was a student council advisor, Rainbow Sabers (gay straight alliance) advisor, and Academy Lead for the Academy of Public and Human Services. Lord Ryan left teaching in the classroom in 2020 and now works as the Associate Vice President of Education at the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. His work connects employers to public Department of Education schools to plan work-based learning activities such as field trips, mentorships, and internships. He also has been essential in statewide initiatives to bring systemic work-based learning to the state. In 2023, he was awarded Pacific Business News Business of Pride Award and Pacific Edge Magazine's Equality, Inclusion, and Diversity Initiative Award.
